Tendon Ginza Itsuki – Halal Restaurant Specializing in Tempura in the Middle of Ginza
Located in the middle of shopping areas of Ginza while also accessible from Tokyo Station and Nihonbashi Station, Ginza Inz 1 is a mall well-liked by young female shoppers. Inside the mall, which can be also easily accessed from Yurakucho Station with a 3-minute walk, you can find Ginza Itsuki, a popular restaurant with a long waiting line during the lunch time, specializing in Tempura that serves a halal dish.
The interior is everything you would expect for a restaurant in Ginza with matured atmosphere. A nicely-maintained counter table makes it easy for one-person guests to sit and casually enjoy its fresh fried food. Tendon is a rice dish topped with two big shrimps, two chicken pieces and four seasonal vegetables. The set meal comes with Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard dish), Miso Soup, and pickles, while it is priced reasonably at 1,000 yen without tax. If you order Tokujo, which is its premium version at 1,500 yen without tax, the topping of Tendon will be replaced with crab, eel (Anago), shrimp, half boiled egg, chicken, mushroom, and 3 seasonal vegetables. The chef skillfully fries the batter so it keeps crisp texture without losing the original flavor of the ingredients. You will surely be convinced why people keep coming back to this restaurant.
It may make you wonder what Muslim customers can order from this restaurant, but everything on the menu is halal. They are using the halal certified chicken breast (during the pandemic, you should inquire to confirm) and the sauce with no alcohol, while also paying attention to the use of oil. The restaurant was already popular among Muslims living in Japan even before the inbound travel from Muslim countries started to sour. Now equipped with the certification from Japan Halal Foundation, Itsuki is well-established as a pioneer in the genre of Japanese halal restaurants.
Note: After 5:30 pm, you can order most of the menu for to-go.
